Introduction to Trinity Episcopal Church

In June of 2014 I accepted a call to be the Rector of both Trinity Episcopal Church in Morgan City and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Thibodaux.  At first glance this may seem to be a bit unusual, but it is becoming more common in the Episcopal Church.  The financial commitment that any parish makes to a full time Rector is enormous, and after much discussion by both parishes, it was decided to share a priest.  This means that I split my workweek between both and serve one church on Sunday rotating between the two.  This works because of the support of the parishioners and the support of the many clergy that help serve with me.

The upside of this priest sharing system is that each congregation gets to see and hear a different priest every other week.  Each congregation gets to know more than just one clergy and can hear a different perspective on scripture and see different styles of celebrating a traditional Episcopal service.  The priest sharing system also allows each parish to continue to use a larger portion of their resources in the community.  It seems to be a win-win situation and as we move forward will only get better.
